![]() ![]() Like the 37.5″ size 38GL950G model, the response time spec is listed as 1ms G2G which has apparently been evaluated by UL (Underwriter laboratories). It will be one of the first to offer this wide gamut with a high refresh rate in the 27″ IPS market. This is now confirmed on the spec page as offering 98% DCI-P3 gamut coverage (135% sRGB). The use of the term ‘Nano IPS’ by LG implies it might use a latest generation LG.Display IPS panel as they’ve used this for other recent displays like the 34GK950F/G for instance, and it is used to signify a model with wide colour gamut as well. To give reassurances to NVIDIA users the screen is also certified as “G-sync Compatible” for NVIDIA cards. This does mean that it can also support variable refresh rates (VRR) from AMD FreeSync systems as well. ![]() This is the largest change LG have made to the screen since it was originally announced, dropping the “G” from the end of the name and changing it from a traditional G-sync screen (with hardware G-sync module) to a normal adaptive-sync screen. Sadly LG have had to drop the 160Hz overclocked refresh rate mentioned in the original press release, as they’ve changed it from a G-sync hardware screen (where overclocking is more readily supported) to an adaptive-sync display instead. We know from the LG spec page that the screen has a native 144Hz refresh rate. This is a potentially interesting screen as until now there have only been high refresh rate IPS-type panels provided by AU Optronics (as used in the Asus ROG Swift PG279Q, Acer Predator XB271HU etc). Read on for an updated news piece about this screen. They’ve removed the “G” from the product name as well. The screen was originally expected to use a hardware G-sync module, but LG have now updated this model to instead be an Adaptive-sync supporting screen, including AMD FreeSync support and certified as “G-sync Compatible”. The 27GL850 (previously announced as the 27GL850G) will use a Nano IPS panel and offers a 2560 x 1440 resolution. Now updated 18 June 2019: LG have announced the release of a new 27″ display in their UltraGear line-up, aimed at gamers. ![]()
